English-015:
Preparation for College Writing (4 units)

This writing course is designed to prepare students for English-101. Primary focus is on the development of the paragraph and short essay. Reviews of grammar, sentence structure, and punctuation are included.

My teaching assignments for this course are as follows:

Click here to access this Video-on-Demand and watch this Annenberg-CPB video 'School Writing/Real World' online. Note that this program is available free of cost but you first need to register, also free of cost. This program shows how writing in the classroom relates to writing in the "real world." Students meet those who appear throughout the course, including authors, educators, and professionals in all fields who use writing on the job, and also first-year writing students from colleges and universities across the country. The program touches on many of the issues in the "Thinking/ Writing Strategies" sequence.

Preparation for College Writing

Engl-015 Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs):

After successfully completing this course, the students will ...

	compose clear and effective sentences within the context of paragraphs and essays relatively free of major grammatical, spelling and punctuation errors;
	compose coherent and unified expository essays that sufficiently support a thesis statement; and
	accurately identify main ideas and supporting evidence in written texts and infer meaning from those texts.
